The backup reads the storage area twice and checks that both copies match. Keep the downloaded file. It preserves the raw data being replaced; it is not a full-device recovery image.

I have kept the backup and want to replace the existing saved music and samples in this storage area with empty Melodee storage.

Initialization leaves the application, bootloader and factory calibration untouched. Keep USB and power connected. Power-cycle after setup, then save a project and check that it returns after another restart.
